Torso measurement is taken from the top of the shoulder down through the crotch and back up to the same shoulder.
All measurements are a guideline. Sizing is affected by fabric stretch, garment construction, and athlete fit preferences. Garland Activewear leotards run true to the garment industry’s standard thus may be larger than the brand of leotards you are currently using.
If measurements fall between sizes, use the smaller size for a tighter, competition fit or the larger size for growing room.
Select the row of measurements that best represents your size. If all your measurements do not fall within the same row, use the row that best represents most importantly your girth, then chest, then hips.
Metallic and hologram fabrics and layered sheer mesh will fit tighter than plain nylons or velvets. We strongly recommend the use of our sizing leotards to ensure you are getting the perfect fit.
Garment Care and Washing Instructions
All hologram, foil, and “effects” fabrics are subject to loss of shine with wear and repeated washings. These fabrics will lose shine in wear areas such as the seat, under the arms, and at the abdomen. Avoid abrasion. Light colors combined with black or dark colors are subject to color transference or bleeding and must be laundered carefully to lessen the possibility of this occurring.
Follow these directions carefully to avoid these problems on all “effects” fabrics (including those with rhinestones). Turn the garment inside out. Hand wash only, with a mild liquid detergent in large quantities of cold water. DO NOT use Woolite or detergents containing bleach. DO NOT use fabric softener. Remove quickly, do not soak. Roll in a towel to remove excess water, and hang to dry.
For all other fabrics, machine wash gentle cycle in cold water. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Tumble dry low heat, remove promptly.
Hair spray and deodorants may cause staining to delicate fabrics. Wash carefully after each wearing. Damp leotards that are left in gym bags are subject to color transference or bleeding.
Most special orders and competition leotards are shipped by UPS. Shipping charges are based on the weight of the package and the distance traveled and shipping charges are subject to change.
Overnight and expedited shipping upgrades are available at an additional cost above standard ground shipping. All shipping upgrades indicate delivery time from when the package leaves the warehouse, not the order date.
Special orders may take one to two weeks to complete, longer during peak demand times. Competition leotards may take four to five weeks to complete production.
All custom/special orders are made to your specifications; therefore, these items cannot be returned or exchanged except in the case of a manufacturing defect. In the case of a manufacturing defect, notify us within 10 days of receiving shipment at 1-877-GARLAND (877-427-5263).
Internet/phone orders usually ship within 48 hours and are shipped via USPS priority mail. Standard shipping is FREE. Expedited shipping is available, and can be selected at checkout.
Returns/exchanges will be accepted subject to the following conditions:
- Garment has not been worn and has all tags attached
- Garment is not soiled, marked or damaged in any way
- Postage will only be refunded if Garland Activewear’s error
- Refunds cannot be given on sale merchandise. Sale products can be exchanged or returned for a store credit
For returns and exchanges, you must pre-pay postage at the point of return. Please fill out the Return/Exchange Form, (download here) and include with your order. Please send your merchandise back, via insured mail, to the following address:

For returns, simply mail back the unwashed, unworn garments to the above address, via insured mail, using the Return/Exchange Form. Once received to our warehouse, your credit card statement will reflect a credit for your returned item(s). Please allow two weeks for us to receive your return and process your request.
For exchanges, customers have two options:
1. Exchange by mail by listing below the items you are returning and the new items you would like in exchange. Include this form in your return packages, and send your items back to the address listed above. Exchange shipping is free.
2. Order the new size/style online at garland.wpengine.com/shop and we will ship the in stock items right away. The exchange is processed as a new order. You will be charged for the replacement as a new order, and then your original form of payment will be refunded once the return item is received by our warehouse. Please include the return/exchange form in your return package, sent to the address above.
Please allow two weeks for us to receive your return and process your request.
Consignment packages are usually shipped via UPS ground. Expedited shipping is available at an additional cost.
Refunds are not available except for manufacturing defect. Items can be exchanged for like items in a different size, subject to the approval of our customer service department and may result in a 15% restocking fee. Notify us within one week of shipping date for a “Return Authorization” label. All garments must be in original saleable condition and cannot be damaged or soiled to be considered for return. You must pre-pay postage at the point of return.
